Gusgus, from Iceland, is one of my favorite techno/trance groups. They started out as a group of filmmakers, actors, computer programmers, and dancers. They liked working with each other and since most of them had musical backgrounds, they decided to form a musical group as well. They wrote, acted, and produced (I think) their videos themselves. And one of their albums, "Polydistortion", is very good in my opinion, and I highly recommend it.
